Framing Presnensky Val through landscape and heritage

JTP, in collaboration with IND Architects, GAFA Architects and MSP Landscape, developed a comprehensive vision for Presnensky Val in Moscow.

Conceived as a serene urban enclave, the project reimagines the site as a place of retreat and renewal within the city. The design unites people in an external sheltered environment that supports wellbeing, reflection and community life.

The indented edges of the valley form a sheltered landscape garden, while the sloping terrain accentuates the natural topography and creates a striking spatial experience. Tree planting along the perimeter reinforces a sense of seclusion, offering respite from the surrounding urban fabric. Small bathhouses and workshops are carefully positioned along the edges, providing spaces for relaxation and creative activity.

Historic buildings are preserved and integrated at key corners and at the central entrance, grounding the project in its rich cultural heritage. This legacy informs the architectural language and inspires a sensitive dialogue with the site’s history and atmosphere.

Project Delivery

– A multifunctional residential complex in the centre of Moscow, which incorporates historical buildings that have been adapted for public use.

– At ground level, yoga studios, co-working spaces and greenhouses support daily life, creating an active and animated ground floor allowing residents to experience a balanced and enriching lifestyle.

– Public realm design inspired by the railway tracks of the Belorussky railway station located next to the residential complex.
