The Associate Director is a newly created tier of leadership strategically positioned to bridge the knowledge and experience between existing Associate and Partner levels that will enable individuals to take a broader and more strategic business role, generate ideas and solutions that continually improve and add value to our practice and actively contribute to internal and external activities.
Andrew Dobson has worked across a wide range of projects at different scales, for both public and private sector clients. In recent years he has developed a specialism in Design Coding and has prepared a Community Design Code for Weyside Urban Village in Guildford as one of the government’s National Model Design Code (NMDC) pilot projects, and more recently, a district wide Placemaking and Design Guide for Calderdale Council. Within the studio, Andrew also plays a significant role in developing project procedures, auditing project documentation, and developing best practice guidance.
A pivotal member of JTP, Eve Denney has taken on a significant level of responsibility across the practice, managing our studios and people in her role as Practice Manager. Having developed an extensive awareness of the practice ambitions and objectives, her responsibilities are wide and varied including HR management, recruitment, training and personal development, well-being initiatives, alongside managing JTP’s front of house and the Admin team. She has driven JTP’s outreach and EDI initiatives, helping the practice to celebrate awareness days and events throughout the year and actively engaging with our local communities and schools. Eve is also an active member of the Architecture Race Forum and has fostered an established and long-standing relationship with Blueprint for All.
Liz Liddell-Grainger has become an inspirational leader and the practice’s in-house sustainability expert, co-ordinating JTP’s sustainability champions and driving the development of JTP’s sustainability strategy and the practice’s Routemap to 2030. In her range of experience of residential-led masterplans, Liz’s projects include an extensive redevelopment in Tolworth to provide 950 new homes and community spaces, Lewisham Exchange, currently the world’s tallest modular student building and a recent unanimous planning approval for a residential scheme, Wireless Factory in Isleworth. She was selected to be part of UKGBC’s Future Leaders Cohort in 2023 and is also a tutor and examiner at Westminster University for students completing their Part III professional studies. She uses these skills to co-lead JTP’s Professional Training Group, assisting all students within the practice with their own training.
Since joining JTP, Josh Cherry has made significant contributions to the practice leading on a number of high-profile projects. His work covers all scales and densities ranging from complex urban brownfield sites and estate regeneration to individual homes in sensitive landscape settings. Recently, he has been leading on the first phases of JTP’s 1,500 home Weyside Urban Village, developing bespoke housing typologies to Passivhaus standards. Josh also led the estate regeneration of Park East in Erith which recently completed and the creation of a mixed-use, urban quarter at the heart of Woking town centre. He also has been working on developing and creating innovative housetypes
An advocate of design excellence and leading the practice’s Design Review Programme, Joe Worrall has built an impressive industry knowledge and portfolio of projects. He was Project Architect for the practice’s transformation of a former bonded warehouse into JTP’s London Studio, Pennington Street Warehouse in Wapping translating the design into built reality. An exemplar in workplace design, the project has been recognised by our industry peers winning three design awards: the RIBA London Award 2021, British Council for Offices (BCO) London Awards 2020, London Construction Awards 2019 and Highly Commended in the British Council for Offices (BCO) National Awards 2020. He has also played a large role on a mix of residential and mixed-use developments across London and the south of England that range from bespoke plots and town centre regenerations to large-scale masterplans.
Emma Armstrong has played a key role in her team, leading several significant projects and co-leading JTP’s Professional Training Group where she nurtures the next generation of architects, offering mentoring and support to her fellow colleagues. She has vast experience leading design teams on a range of residential-led, mixed-use schemes ranging from high-density urban quarters, new neighbourhoods, settlements and urban extensions. In her project portfolio, Emma has secured planning approval for key regeneration sites across London, a nature inspired new community in Cambridge and new neighbourhoods in Huntingdonshire and Greater Manchester.
Nurturing, developing and motivating our team is one of JTP’s key ambitions, and we place great value on working with all our people to develop their careers and progression. We believe this is the start of a very exciting next phase and journey for JTP and our six new Associate Directors, and wish them all the very best in their future roles.
