George Appleby
Architectural Assistant
BArch MArch

George is a Part 2 Architectural Assistant who joined JTP after completing his MArch at the Sheffield School of Architecture. George’s final year project of ‘A Parliament for Zero Carbon Building’ explores a zero-carbon future through promoting an awareness of sustainable construction methods among the general public. This project sought to deliver a large-scale retrofit, but with the aim of challenging the current sustainability brief in Manchester.

He has experience across a range of scales and sectors including, civic healthcare, small scale private domestic and larger scale residential projects. Since joining JTP, he has worked on mixed-use residential projects including North Street and a neighbourhood at Guildford Cathedral. He has also been involved in securing clients at concept stages for several smaller scale residential projects for the practice.

George is interested in promoting a decarbonised architecture towards social benefits such as delivering affordable tenure schemes. His dissertation focused on the challenges of retrofitting the surplus and varied UK building stock to meet the UKs 2050 zero carbon targets. This inspired his policy focussed thesis.

Outside work George is an active individual who enjoys running, cycling, climbing and football. He is also a keen foodie and has fostered this interest most recently with Italian food and pasta making.

Our people are the heart of who we are.
