The scheme promotes sustainable lifestyles for all by intensifying activity and movement to bring renewed life to Woking’s town centre and as part of JTP’s masterplan-led approach, pedestrianises the eastern end of Goldsworth Road, reinterpreting this as a new ‘Green Street’. This feature is designed as a multi-functional piece of green infrastructure where local people can meet and dwell and includes for 215 sqm of play space, 45 new trees, 550 sqm new planting and 320 sqm of green wall. The significant greening of the street will generate benefits in terms of air quality, biodiversity – delivering a 900% increase – as well as urban cooling and social wellbeing.
New pedestrian and cycle routes will be introduced alongside secure cycle parking for 1,000 spaces and a repair station to promote sustainable modes of transport whilst residents will enjoy an array of residential amenities including a spa, gym and a residential lounge designed to spill out in an active courtyard and sensory gardens.
