Qualified as an Architect, Yat has more than 20 years of experience in residential and mixed-use projects. From high-rise and high-density urban regenerations to low-density village extensions on greenfield and brownfield sites in rural and suburban settings, the diversity of his work in the UK is wide-ranging.

His passion in placemaking, expertise in architectural design and skills in illustration have helped shape many successful projects, including the award-winning Dunsfold Park in Surrey, Chobham Farm in London’s Eastend Newham and Dover Court in the London borough of Islington.

At JTP, Yat is playing an important role in supporting the masterplanning design efforts across the practice, as well as mentoring the younger generation of architects and urban designers to pass on his skills and knowledge. To strive the best quality in placemaking and the most innovative architectural approaches, his design methodology is key to the unique development strategies that unleash the maximum value of land in each individual site.

Since joining JTP, Yat’s work has mainly focused on masterplanning of rural housing developments, including a selection of former RAF airfields, such as Wisley in Guildford delivering 200 homes; Waterbeach in Cambridge; and Dunsfold Park in Surrey, where his involvement has spanned across his previous career employment. He has also led masterplan designs for challenging greenbelt sites, such as a 380-home neighbourhood at Little Chalfont in Buckinghamshire; Spratsbrook Farm in Tunbridge Wells; and Blundel Lane in Elmbridge. These development sites, unlike the former airfields, require architectural insight at early stages to envision technical solutions for the challenging topography. His understanding in the construction process helps secure design proposals that are practical, buildable and viable.

As an Architect, Yat is also leading the elevational design process for many projects and developing innovative housing prototypes that prioritise sustainable and active movement. He has become a keen member of the panel in JTP’s internal design review sessions.

Yat is also a member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators. Drawing is both his hobby and profession, in the age of information technology and artificial intelligence, Yat believes that hand drawing is still an inseparable tool for architects and designers, because it is the most direct reflection of the human brain, which is where the best ideas are conceived. His sketching skills are invaluable not only for the professional audience, but also well received by the general public at community engagement and consultation events.

Our people are the heart of who we are.
