Centred on collaboration, Beyond the Box Consultants CIC will once again be collaborating with Scale Rule CIC and youth collective, Re-fabricate, to form this year’s key delivery team. JTP is delighted to be working alongside fellow creative practices, Heatherwick Studio, Make, AHMM, Haworth Tompkins, dRMM and David Chipperfield Architects to support the programme and participants with our guidance, skills and expertise.

The programme invites young people from across the seven boroughs of East London to participate in weekend workshops hosted in each borough by Beyond The Box. The ambition is to bring the opportunity directly to the young members of the community to get them involved and design their vision. Participants will be guided in developing their early competition concepts through model making and testing of concepts, sketches, scales and sections, leading to a presentation of ideas to a panel of designers at the end of the weekend.

After each weekend workshop, a shortlisted team will be chosen to progress through to Stage 2, where they will be partnered with leading architectural studios and engineering firms across London to help evolve and develop their designs further. This will be followed by a curated exhibition which will host the team’s design boards, models, and sketches before the public are then invited to vote for the winning design. The chosen pavilion will then be constructed and unveiled at Patchworks in Leyton, East London in July 2023.
