A canalside neighbourhood at the centre of Wuxi Li Lake New Town

Wuxi is a historic city within the Yangzhi River Delta area close to Shanghai. The Lihu site sits on the edge of Li Lake. JTP worked within the existing masterplan framework to design a mixed-use development on either side of the 2km Grand Canal that runs through the site from north to south.

Project Delivery

– The JTP design reflects the long history of Wuxi which is famous for its canals, docks, warehouses, music and crafts, as well as its trade in silk and rice.

– The design combines culture, entertainment, learning, creating, performing, playing, shopping and tourism activities as well as hotels, and apartments.

– A rich variety of destinations are created along the Grand Canal which is really a ‘water highway’ through the town to Li Lake and Tai Lake.

– The canal network also links large lakeside hotels, residential areas, lake shore parks, marinas, markets, squares, the Wuxi Lounge lakeside entertainment area and a new landmark theatre.
