Royal Clarence Yard was established in 1831 as a victualling yard supplying the Royal Navy with fresh water, salt meat, biscuits and rum.
The site sits adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest and includes two Conservation Areas containing 18 Grade II and II* listed buildings and Scheduled Monuments. Buildings include the Cooperage, Granary, Bakery, Slaughterhouse, Hydraulic Engine House, Artificer’s Workshops, Ceremonial Gateway, Superintendent’s Houses, Reservoir, Barracks and Guard House.
