Farhana was selected from an initial shortlist of 23, for her role in promoting social value initiatives and encouraging young people into architectural education or the wider profession. Judge Hiba Alobaydi particularly applauded Farhana’s ‘hand-on approach to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion’.
Farhana has been an integral part of JTP’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Group and has had an active role in the organisation and the delivery of social value initiatives such as mentoring, architectural workshops, career insight talks, work experience and local engagement with schools and communities. Furthermore, Farhana’s involvement with the Mulberry School for Girls in Shadwell and Harris Academy in South Norwood has been particularly valuable. This has provided the opportunity to inspire and encourage hundreds of young people, especially girls, to pursue higher education in architecture or the wider profession.
