Over the past eight years, Emma has provided strategic leadership in guiding design teams on a diverse spectrum of residential-led, mixed-use projects. Her projects range from high-density urban quarters and new neighbourhoods to settlements and urban extensions, ensuring a strong design vision and coordinated project delivery from the outset. In her portfolio, Emma has secured planning approval for key regeneration sites and urban quarters across London including an outline planning consent at Osterley Place; an outline planning application for Beckton Gasworks, Phase 1 which reimagines the former gasworks into a neighbourhood of 2,990 homes; and a nature inspired new community of 297 build-to-rent homes at Howes Green, Cambridge.
Emma has also delivered Design Codes for the first two key phases for the urban extension at Wintringham Park, St Neots, and contributed to several projects within Greater Manchester, developing masterplan frameworks for two emerging neighbourhoods at Mosley Common and Elton Reservoir.
Beyond her project work, Emma is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of architects. Through her co-leadership of JTP’s Professional Training Group, she has played a vital role in mentoring and developing younger colleagues, fostering talent and ambition within our practice.
Since joining JTP in 2014, Josh has made significant contributions to the practice leading a number of high-profile projects. Josh’s work covers all scales and densities ranging from complex urban brownfield sites and estate regeneration to new neighbourhoods in sensitive landscape settings. Notable recent projects led by Josh include Phases 1 and 3 of JTP’s visionary 1,500 home project at Weyside Urban Village in Guildford transforming a strategically important brownfield site into a thriving new neighbourhood alongside the River Wey. Josh developed bespoke housing typologies to Passivhaus standards, blending innovative design with environmental responsibility.
Josh led the estate regeneration at Park East in Erith for 320 homes which recently completed in 2024 and spearheaded the creation of a high-density, new urban quarter at Goldsworth Road in the heart of Woking town centre. The project is focussed around the creation of a new pedestrianised open space in the town centre which is animated by over 26,000 sqft of mixed-uses and 929 new homes.
Within the practice, Josh sits in our innovative housing group, promoting progressive urban typologies and is also one of JTP’s sustainability champions. As a sustainability champion, Josh helps to broaden our collective knowledge and disseminate this shared learning throughout the practice, as we strive to embed sustainability at the heart of every project.
Marcus Adams, JTP Managing Partner, commented “I am delighted to implement our next steps in the ongoing process of practice succession with the promotion of Emma Armstrong and Josh Cherry to Partner at JTP. These well-deserved promotions are a testament to their commitment and expertise, and the pivotal roles they play at JTP. They have both established a vast and impressive portfolio of projects, and we look forward to the continuing role they will play in shaping JTP’s future and driving the practice towards new and exciting achievements.”
