The index brings together and spotlights 119 practices and built environment organisations actively working to restore ecosystems, strengthen communities and embed long-term sustainable thinking into everyday practice.
As part of the submission, organisations provide detailed responses across the RAI’s three assessment themes: Being a good ancestor, Co-evolving with nature, and Creating a just space for people. Across all three themes, our responses drew on the breadth of our work across our practice culture and sustainability commitments to our approach to nature-led masterplanning, community engagement and co-design and long-term research.
Midway through our 2019–2030 sustainability plan, our practice strengthened its ambitions around four guiding principles: Tread Lightly, Grow Collaboratively, Think Regeneratively and Speak Loudly. These commitments span operational pledges – including the World Green Building Council’s Net Zero Buildings Commitment – through to advocacy, research and knowledge-sharing across the wider industry.
On the project side, JTP has championed biodiversity net gain for over a decade, long before it became a legislative requirement. Highlights recognised in our submission include our 100 Miles Wilder vision, developed with The Wildlife Trusts to place nature recovery at the heart of the Oxford to Cambridge Growth Arc, and the Bailrigg Garden Village masterplan, which integrates food production, soil health and ecological enhancement as core components of climate resilience.
