Alongside our joint masterplanning partner, Cowen+Partners, we have designed the settlement based on Garden Community principles and set out a vision for up to 5,500 new homes arranged around a town centre focussed around the existing railway station interchange. Extending to the south, the Southern Neighbourhood is designed as a series of distinctive villages – acting as their own unique ecosystems – that will deliver these new homes alongside two primary schools, a secondary school and a local centre. The neighbourhood is structured around the ‘Ridgeway’, a green spine that connects residents to the station and local amenities through a network of active travel routes, ensuring these connected neighbourhoods remain both distinctive and highly accessible.
Central to the plan is a ‘town centre first’ approach, which ensures that essential community services and infrastructure are established alongside new housing to support a self-sustaining community from the outset. The proposed Town Centre is strategically positioned adjacent to the existing Worcestershire Parkway station, transforming it into a dynamic hub for the new settlement. By co-locating retail, commercial and leisure spaces with major transport links, the masterplan prioritises low-carbon living and reduces car dependency. This heart of the town will serve as the social and economic engine for the surrounding neighbourhoods, offering a human-scaled high street and welcoming public squares.
