A swift trip on the Eurostar brought us to Lille, where historic streets, beautiful Flemish architecture and festively decorated shopfronts and squares set the scene for the day. Exploring the city in small groups, we wandered the cobbled streets on a festive scavenger hunt to explore Lille’s hidden secrets, solve clues and immerse ourselves in the city’s charm whilst also learning about the city in an interactive way.
As part of the scavenger hunt route, teams made their way through some of Lille’s most distinctive landmarks, starting at the Grand’Place – once part of the river itself and now the lively heart of the city – before passing through the Palais Rihour and its Christmas Market, filled with festive stalls and seasonal treats. The trail continued through the city including stops at the Saint Maurice Church; the atmospheric Place aux Oignons, Lille’s oldest square; and on to the striking Notre Dame de la Treille Cathedral, whose long construction history and dramatic modern façade offered a memorable final stop. Each location added a new layer to the day, blending history, discovery and festive atmosphere into the experience.
