Maidenhead Town Centre Placemaking Vision and Charter

Update 07/06/2021: The 'Maidenhead Vision Charter' has been adopted by Cabinet in the town, as a guide to how it could look as a place to live and work over the next 15-20 years.

The Vision Charter, which JTP have prepared in collaboration with local stakeholders, residents and communities, has been adopted by The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Cabinet.

The Vision Charter is an exciting aspiration for the future that aligns with people’s expectations and supports the delivery of a healthy, equitable and attractive town centre – one which will have a rich, balanced mix of uses, to support a vibrant day and evening economy and promote a collaborative community.

The local community’s ambitions for the future of Maidenhead Town Centre are set out in 12 charter points which will be signed by key stakeholders and future developers who will commit to contributing to the delivery of the overall vision.

A town team will be established to review, monitor and assess projects that come forward to ascertain whether they meet the Maidenhead Vision Charter’s key points.

Community Engagement
Over 300 people attended the Maidenhead Vision Community Planning Day on Saturday 23 November 2019, 10.00am to 4.00pm at Nicholsons Shopping Centre to help shape a new Vision and Charter for Maidenhead Town Centre. Click here to view the background exhibition boards.

Following the Community Planning Day, the JTP team analysed and summarised the outcomes to draw up a draft Charter for Maidenhead Town Centre. This was presented back to the local community on Tuesday 14 January 2020 at St Mary’s Church. Click here to view the Report Back Presentation.

Following the Report Back, JTP prepared a final Vision and Charter document for further consideration prior to submission to the RBWM and partner organisations.
