The regeneration of Swan Court, White Lion Court and Swan Street in Isleworth provides an opportunity to provide a new sequence of public spaces and permeable routes, improve and increase the riverside amenity for local residents, and redevelop a building that was under-occupied and underused.

The site is located within the historic Isleworth Riverside Conservation Area and adjacent to the Grade II Listed Old Blue School building. The scheme provides a collection of buildings of differing scale and character creating a back drop to a sequence of public spaces and permeable routes.

The proposal opens up views to the river, creates new north and south connections across a previously land locked site and provides a new sequence of public squares and spaces, with active frontage. The mix of uses opens up the opportunity for the creation of a new destination riverside quarter.

Project Delivery

  • The scheme comprises 139 dwellings, including 123 apartments, 10 duplex units and 6 townhouses.
  • 111 of the proposed homes (80%) will be outright sale and 28 homes (20%) will be a range of affordable accommodation.
  • At least 10% of the proposed homes (14 units) will be provided as adaptable wheelchair homes designed in accordance with the GLA’s Wheelchair accessible housing Best Practice Guidance (2007) and the Mayor’s Housing SPG.
  • All of the homes will be constructed to Lifetime Homes standards.
  • Landscaping has been an integral element of the design. Key considerations include how the landscaping and public realm for the proposed scheme will relate to surrounding townscape features, including the river walk, adjacent streets and the Grade II Listed Old Blue School building.
  • 226 car parking spaces are proposed (172 basement parking spaces, 46 ground floor level parking spaces and 8 spaces provided as integral garages for the townhouses).
  • In total 161 cycle parking spaces will be provided for the future residents along with 16 cycle parking spaces for the commercial users.
  • The scheme will achieve 35% carbon dioxide reduction against Building Regulations Part L through an improved building envelope and photovoltaic panels.
