Two JTP projects shortlisted in the 2019 Housing Design Awards

JTP is proud to announce that two of our projects, St Clement’s, in Mile End, East London and Alconbury Weald, in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, have been shortlisted in the Good Neighbour category in the 2019 Housing Design Awards.

The awards programme, now in its 71st year, champions both unbuilt and completed projects that provide ‘replicable innovations to current housing design challenges’.

The Good Neighbour Award is new for this year, and has been created to ‘reflect policy focus’ and showcase exemplary design quality in projects, an appropriate response to context and demonstration of how they address local needs and have gained local support.

A decade in the making, St Clement’s, JTP’s regeneration of a former Victorian workhouse and hospital in Mile End, opened in 2017 including London’s first Community Land Trust (CLT). The judging panel visited St Clement’s in early April to evaluate the successes of the urban quarter, and see for themselves the strong community focus it has established.

Alconbury Weald in Cambridgeshire, transforms a former Cold War airfield to create a significant new mixed-use neighbourhood for Urban&Civic, eventually comprising of 5,000 homes, an employment Enterprise Campus, schools, sustainable transport links, energy infrastructure and community facilities – integrated within over 700 acres of green space.

The Housing Design Awards judges included representatives from Homes England, the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), RIBA, RICS, RTPI, Landscape Institute, CIAT and the GLA.

The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on Thursday 11 July.
