Latest phase of Mill O Mains neighbourhood receives planning

The latest phase of the Mill O Mains estate renewal project, located on the northern edge of Dundee, has received planning approval from Dundee City Council.

Designed for housing association Home Group in consultation with Dundee City Council Neighbourhood Services, Phase 4 will complete the wider Mill O Mains Community Regeneration Masterplan. The masterplan was approved in 2009 with the ambition of creating a better-connected place with a balanced mix of 300 energy-efficient homes and improving both the social environment and the perception of the estate.

The latest phase of the regeneration aims to complement the previously completed phases; responding to the new street patterns, streetscapes and community spaces while addressing the challenges presented by the edge of settlement location and proximity to the A90 carriageway.

The key elements of the design included creating and celebrating the sense of arrival at the neighbourhood’s access points, and the creation of a distinctive yet complementary character area for this phase.

45 homes will be provided in a broad range of types and sizes, from one-bed apartments to four-bed family homes including bespoke designed cottage flats for wheelchair users and managed accommodation for residents with complex needs.
