JTP’s new studio shortlisted in AJ Retrofit Awards 2019

We are very proud to announce that JTP’s new studio at Pennington Street Warehouse, London Dock, Wapping has been shortlisted for Best Office in the 2019 AJ Retrofit Awards.

The annual awards celebrate the design, engineering and construction excellence that prolongs and improves the built environment.

Constructed between 1804 and 1806, Pennington Street Warehouse is a former bonded warehouse with a semi-basement of brick vaulted cellars originally used for the storage of rum and spices at London Dock. More recently it formed part of News International Printing Works: known as Fortress Wapping.

In 2016 with the end of the lease on our studio fast approaching JTP purchased a section of the Grade 2 listed 315m long warehouse.

JTP’s retrofit of Pennington Street Warehouse has created a healthy and sustainable studio, and collaborative workplace through the creative reuse and adaptation of the warehouse. Through the design process we reimagined the space appreciating the unique character of the building and its contrasting spaces; respecting the building’s unique historic features and scars of its former life.

We look forward to learning the winners of the awards, which will be announced at a ceremony in London on Wednesday 11 September 2019.
