JTP Win 2010 Sustainable Housing Award for Graylingwell Park

Graylingwell Park has won the Sustainable Large Social Housing Project of the Year in the Sustainable Housing Awards.

The awards, which are organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, recognise projects and organisations at the cutting edge of sustainability best practice.

The mixed-use scheme regenerates an 85-acre redundant hospital site to the north-east of Chichester and is the largest carbon neutral neighbourhood in the UK. It was designed through a community planning process for the development partnership of Linden Homes, Affinity Sutton and the Homes & Communities Agency.

The development retains a number of the core hospital buildings and provides 750 new homes (40% will be affordable), more than 24,000 sqft of community uses and approximately 64,000 sqft of commercial space. It will meet net zero carbon for the whole development, Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, Code 6 for Energy, and EcoHomes Excellent on all refurbished buildings.

Through our unique collaborative process we have sought to embed the project within the local community, and provide this area of north-east Chichester with a new social and economic focus, built around the creative industries, that we hope will serve as a benchmark for future development."
