JTP Joins the AIA to Promote Public Participation

This week, JTP Partner Charles Campion will join the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Joel Mills and Erin Simmons to lead a discussion on galvanising a global wave of public participation at the 2016 IAP2 North America Conference in Montreal, Canada.

Charles also spoke at the AIA’s Grassroots 2016 conference in Detroit in February. In this short clip released subsequently by the AIA, Charles explains why "communities want placemaking" and how community engagement can elevate the importance of design in decisions about the built environment:

Our relationship with the American Institute of Architects stretches back to 1988, when JTP Founder Chairman John Thompson took part in a Regional Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT) charrette process in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this recent AIA video, John speaks about how that experience inspired him to adapt and build on that process bringing participatory design to communities in the UK and around the world:
