JTP joins industry-wide coordinated 3D printing effort to support the NHS in the fight against Covid-19

With the NHS in dire need of as many protective face visors as possible, JTP has joined many practices across the built environment industry to help make personal protective equipment (PPE) for front-line staff.

JTP’s effort, led by Head of Visualisation, Bill Sands, uses two printers, relocated from its London studio to Bill’s home, to make the PPE as part of the initiative – The Industry Prints – a coordinated effort to manufacture face visors to exact NHS specifications and distribute them directly to front-line workers. The Industry Prints is being directed by HTA Design and HOK London and is being supported by the UK’s architecture and design community with the aim of producing 35,000 protective masks per week

With the printers set up at Bill’s home, he hopes to make between 13 and 15 masks a day when fully up to speed.

As part of the collaboration, The Industry Prints is working with the Contractors Appeal and NEAD, National 3D Printing Society, MedSupplyDriveUK, Makerversity, Helpful Engineering, Women in 3D Printing, developer Greystar’s ‘Do Some Good’ campaign and the RIBA to get as many UK firms as possible involved.
