JTP Conquers Carauntoohil for Charity!

13 of JTP's employees recently took on the challenge of climbing Ireland’s highest peak, in the name of Oxfam. Carauntoohil, a towering 1,038m high, lies in the centre of the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks range in County Kerry.

The climbers reached the summit in an impressive three hours, and were lucky enough to experience passing glimpses of the stunning Irish landscape below – an elusive sight on this particular mountain.

The climb back down was challenging as it required scaling narrow paths over countless rocks, through ‘Heaven’s Gate’ and lots of wet bog. Touching back down on flat, even and solid ground never felt so good, and several tears of joy were shed!

All in all it was a great experience for the brave team, with their strong sense of comradery carrying them through the tougher moments, and an evening out in Killarney rounded off the weekend nicely.

Together with the proceeds from a bake sale held the previous week in the JTP studio, the team raised a remarkable £1,200 for Oxfam, making the aches and pains from the 6.5 hour round climb seem that much more bearable.
