JTP appointed to create a new Vision for Kendal

An award-winning multi-disciplinary design team comprising landscape architects Farrer Huxley and architects and masterplanners JTP has been appointed by regeneration partnership Kendal Futures to deliver a new masterplan for Kendal, Cumbria.

Kendal Futures, an organisation representing businesses and stakeholders in the town, were looking for a team with a strong track record in public engagement, to enrich thinking and discussion around Kendal’s future ambitions and to develop a bold, long-term vision for the town.

As a core part of the design process, the team will embark on an engagement process open to all, comprising hands-on planning workshops, walkabouts and open dialogue.

Our proposal is focused on engaging collaboratively with key stakeholders and the wider community, bringing local knowledge and creativity into the process.

The team will also undertake townscape analysis work and character area studies capturing what is unique and special about the town, and how this can be enhanced.

Stakeholder engagement began in mid-August and will culminate in a Community Planning Weekend from Thursday 3 October – Tuesday 8 October 2019.
