International Interest in JTP Community Planning Charrette

Biao Wei, Director of Hangzhou City Planning and Design Academy in China, and Anna Hrdlicka, from the National Exhibitions Agency in Sweden, will attend the Fort Halstead Community Planning Weekend on 13/14 July.

JTP is a leading practitioner of community planning throughout the UK and overseas. Biao Wei, from China, and Anna Hrdlicka, from Sweden, will attend the Fort Halstead Community Planning Weekend on 13/14 July to learn more about JTP's methodology and value of the process.

Armstrong Kent LLP, the owner of Fort Halstead, is carrying out a consultation for the future mixed use development of this 136 hectare site. This follows last year's announcement by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) that it will relocate its operations to Portsdown West and Porton Down, leaving a large proportion of the site vacant by 2017.

The aim of the event is to draw up a viable and sustainable Vision for the site and its relationship with the surrounding villages following Dstl's departure. This Vision will form the basis of a Development Brief for Fort Halstead that will provide guidance for future planning applications.

The Community Planning Weekend provides an opportunity for participants from the local community to share local knowledge and contribute to the emerging Vision for Fort Halstead's future through workshops and hands-on planning groups. Attendance at the community planning weekend is on a drop in basis, and participants can stay from just a few minutes, to one session, through to the whole event.

The local community is invited to take part in the Fort Halstead Community Planning Weekend at the Fort Halstead Canteen, Crow Drive, Sevenoaks TN14 on Friday 13 July from 2pm-8pm and on Saturday 14 July from 11am-4pm.

The outcomes of the Community Planning Weekend will be reported back to the local community at a feedback session on Tuesday 24 July.
