Graylingwell Park Shortlisted for Building Awards 2012

JTP's design of Graylingwell Park – the largest carbon neutral neighbourhood in the UK has been shortlisted for the Building Awards 2012 Sustainable Project of the Year Category.

The new mixed-use development of 750 homes was designed by JTP through an extensive community planning process for joint clients Linden Homes, Affinity Sutton and the Homes & Communities Agency. The process involved almost 400 key stakeholders and members of the public in developing the masterplan for the redundant hospital site north-east of Chichester.

The Graylingwell Hospital project represents the latest stage in JTP's pursuit of sustainable urbanism a holistic approach to development which creates dynamic new places by carefully combining technologically advanced architecture with existing historic buildings and mature landscapes.

The consensus-led approach to design fostered considerable local support and enabled outline consent for the masterplan, and detailed consent for Phase One, to be granted in March 2009. Construction commenced on-site later in the same year with completion due in 2016.

The project has been designed to achieve Building for Life Gold Standard and has already been identified as an exemplary project by English Heritage in their recent publication ‘Constructive Conservation in Practice'.

Winners of the Building Awards 2012 will be at announced at a gala event to be held 18 April 2012 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London.
