Edenbrook and Kew Bridge Shortlisted for the 2012 Housing Design Awards

JTP are pleased to announce that two of its schemes, Edenbrook (Phase 1) and Kew Bridge, have been shortlisted for the Housing Design Awards 2012.

Edenbrook (Phase 1), for Berkeley Homes Southern, is located at Hitches Lanes on the western fringe of the town of Fleet, Hampshire. The scheme provides 300 homes that range in size from 1-bedroom apartments to 5-bedroom detached homes clustered into distinct character areas defined by natural landscape and a sequence of open public spaces that link to a new country park.

Kew Bridge, for St George West London, is a riverside brownfield site in the London Borough of Brentford. The mixed-use scheme includes 308 new homes with a mix of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, various commercial space, as well as a riverside pub and boat club facility. It is proposed that over 50 percent of the site area is public realm and will include an enhanced riverside walk. The overall design of the scheme will reflect the riverside location by incorporating wharf and warehouse aesthetics.

The Housing Design Awards, now in its 64th year, is a national programme supported by Government and the industry's key professions that recognises schemes with great potential that have detailed planning permission, but are not yet finished and occupied, as well as completed schemes of outstanding merit. The judging criteria for the Awards includes: the relationship to surroundings and neighbourhood; attention to safety, security and accessibility; sustainability in construction; and the external appearance and internal planning.

Winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on 20 June in London.
