Chilmington Green wins 2014 Placemaking Award

JTP’s scheme at Chilmington Green has won the award for Best Strategic Planning at the 2014 Placemaking Awards

This award is given to the entry which best demonstrates how ‘a masterplan has, or will have, a positive impact on the physical or environmental quality of a place or the economic or social wellbeing of its community’.

The awards were held at London’s British Museum in association with Regeneration & Renewal and Planning Magazine. Partner Clare San Martin collected the award on behalf of JTP and her team.

Chilmington Green will be a 21st Century Garden Suburb for Ashford in Kent. It has been designed to accommodate 5750 new homes arranged in three distinctive neighbourhoods, on a site of 415 hectares. The scheme includes a high street, secondary school, four primary schools, a park and extensive areas of formal and informal green space. Chilmington Green is also expected to generate 1000 new jobs for the area.
