Rosyth Waterfront Community Planning Weekend

The local community was invited to the Rosyth Waterfront Community Planning Weekend to help create a Vision for a high quality mixed-use development on the riverfront close to the new Forth Crossing.

Background
Scarborough Muir Group (SMG) own land to the East and North of the Port of Rosyth.  The 135 acre Waterfront site has the potential to become a vital and diverse new place, developed around urban village principles with new homes, leisure facilities, shops and recreation for local people, along with new offices, and new industries, bringing an estimated 3500 jobs and a £500m investment to the area. 

The social and economic advantages, including the provision of new and diverse employment opportunities and facilities, through the creation of a world class sustainable gateway development, will benefit the people of Rosyth, the Kingdom of Fife and Scotland as a whole.

SMG is committed to working closely with the local community and has appointed collaborative planning and urban design specialists JTP to facilitate the Community Planning Weekend and prepare a masterplan and Vision for the Waterfront. 

Community Planning Weekend
The Community Planning Weekend was an opportunity to share local knowledge and contribute to planning the new development through workshops and hands-on planning groups. There was also an exhibition explaining the background of the site. 

Participation was on a drop-in basis and there was no need to pre-register. Participants were able to stay for a few hours or for the whole event, with team members on hand to answer questions.

Report Back Presentation 
Following the two public workshop days, the JTP led team worked to analyse and summarise the outcomes and draw up a Vision for the waterfront site and its relationship with Rosyth. This was presented to the local community at 6.30 pm on Wednesday 29th June at Rosyth Parish Church.

Following the Community Planning Weekend the design team are moving forward to prepare a Planning Application for the site, which it is anticipated will be submitted to Fife Council at the beginning of 2017.
