JTP Leads Further Workshops for Innovative Finnish Development

JTP Partner Fred London and Andreas von Zadow of Von Zadow International recently led the workshops for the new plot owners – and future residents – of the second phase of Harjanne, Vuores, the eco-town extension to Tampere in Finland.

The workshops were part of the wider collaborative strategy by the Town of Vuores to develop social, economic and environmental sustainability.

The format included presentations on potential design approaches to the owners' homes, and how the public realm might be configured, physically and spiritually, in order to create a strong sense of community.

One exercise, designed to initiate introductions between the future neighbours, involved replicating the masterplan layout in the arrangement of the chairs, which were labelled with the plot owners' addresses.

A second workshop, scheduled for February 2016, will reveal how successfully the individual designs integrate with each other, along with further development of the public realm concepts.

The event followed on from a similar workshop staged in April last year, where residents of a separate plot finalised the designs for their homes.  

JTP have been working with Vuores and the City of Tampere for over ten years.
