Ying Ying Tian

Dr. Ying Ying Tian is an academic practitioner passionate about making better cities.

In 2009 Ying became one of the key JTP team to expand JTP’s urban design and masterplanning work into China where JTP established an office in 2011 in Shanghai.

Over the last six years Ying has led or been part of multidisciplinary teams for more than 30 of JTP’s Chinese projects, including new towns, eco settlements, tourism towns and regeneration areas. Key projects included Suzhou eco-town first phase urban design, which was shortlisted for an Urban Design Award, and Dalian Diamond Bay Regeneration, which focused on socio-economic resilience for industrial restructuring.

Ying has also carried out a number of research projects including the UK-China Eco-city Research project, the Ideal Town Making Study for China Greentown Group, and London Plan Research to inform the improvement of Shanghai plan-making standard.

As well as being a collaborator with JTP, Ying is now a Director of the China Design Centre in London.
