Lewis Hill

Architectural Assistant
BA(Hons) MArch

Lewis joined JTP as a Part II Architectural Assistant after completing his Masters at the Welsh School of Architecture.

During his Architecture and Planning undergraduate degree at the University of the West of England, Lewis established a keen interest in socially-driven design at a range of scales; from individual buildings to the making of places and wider masterplans.

Lewis was able to explore these interests through a range of student projects, notably a masterplan and town hall proposal for Frome in Somerset. By raising administrative activities above ground level, the central chamber linked directly with the surrounding public spaces encouraging active and wider community engagement in local politics. At thesis level, Lewis explored ‘Restorative Aquaculture’ as a means of addressing Portsmouth’s food, health and leisure inequalities, whilst also providing net-positive environmental outcomes as part of a Coastal Masterplan and Aquacultural Promenade destination.

Recently, Lewis has gained experience in high-density, mixed-use masterplanning projects, primarily the regeneration of the former Beckton Gas Works in Newham. This project will transform a currently inaccessible Thameside site, into a vibrant and sustainable neighbourhood with a landmark riverside park that will establish Beckton as a destination in East London.

Outside of the studio, Lewis enjoys taking photos, exploring new places and cultures, as well as attending live music events. He also enjoys the gym, running, and plays for two 5-a-side football teams.
