BArch MArch (AA) PG Diploma

Karan is a Senior Urban Designer at JTP with ten years' experience in the realm of urban design, masterplanning, strategic planning, urban analysis, economic planning and architecture. Along with an extensive understanding of planning and urban issues, Karan brings with him a passion for placemaking and community development, taking a particular interest in the economic and environmental issues involved in urban design.

Since joining JTP, Karan has operated across multiple urban design projects and provides specialist input to support teams within the practice, particularly at the strategic early stages to shape their response to the urban context. Currently, Karan is leading the design team on Urban&Civic’s Manydown project, a new set of neighbourhoods set within a rich landscape which has been inspired by features from Hampshire villages and towns, and contemporary sustainable design principles. He also has had a key role in the early visioning work of several recent urban design projects.

Prior to joining JTP, Karan worked on several significant masterplans, including a series of mixed-use neighbourhoods and an innovation district, and has extensive experience working across a variety of sectors, including higher education, civic, workplace and refurbishment projects. He also worked as an Architect in India and Sri Lanka for three years on a wide range of projects, including the 2001 Bhuj earthquake memorial masterplan.

Karan is an invited critic and speaker at the University of Westminster and the Architectural Association.
