Julie Spence

Associate
BSc MArch

Julie is a Senior Urban Designer at JTP, currently working on the early promotion, visioning and placemaking of urban extensions and garden communities through the planning process.

During her time at JTP, Julie has worked across several projects including a sustainable urban extension to Ware, Hertfordshire. The project will deliver a residential-led, mixed-use development of up to 1,500 homes. The team worked closely with the local community to shape the new proposals through a Community Planning Event attended by over 700 local people.

Other recent work includes Abbey Barn Park at High Wycombe, involving a hybrid planning application for a new community of 550 new homes that respect and complement the strong existing landscape structure. The proposal is landscape-led and includes the retention and enhancement of The Ride (a lime tree avenue) as well as the creation of new parkland and greenways for community enjoyment and wildlife connectivity.

Julie brings her passion for landscape and wildlife conservation to JTP’s projects. She is keen to seek opportunities to integrate Nature Recovery Networks and Living Landscapes into JTP’s approach to masterplanning in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust.

Outside of the office, Julie enjoys travelling and is making her way around every country in Europe. She is known for exploring dramatic and remote places off the beaten track.
