Emma Chung

BA (Hons) MAUD

Emma is an Associate and Senior Urban Designer at JTP. She studied Town Planning for her undergraduate degree and graduated with an MA in Urban Design from Oxford Brookes University. She has a keen interest in sustainability and social cohesion and wrote a thesis entitled ‘Social Cohesion and the Urban Form' which focused on Angell Town housing estate in Brixton.

Since joining JTP, Emma has gained extensive experience working on large scale masterplans around the UK, most of which have a strong focus on Garden Village principles and Community Land Trusts. She is responsible for the management of projects, seeing them through various aspects of the design process, from concept design and community planning through to Outline Planning Applications, Design Coding and Developer Implementation Packs.

Emma’s projects include a 395 home scheme at Caddington Wood, Bedfordshire; Kingston Grange, a 2,000 home mixed-use new settlement in Warwickshire; and Attleborough’s Strategic Urban Extension comprising 4,000 homes in Norfolk. Other notable projects include Chilmington Green, a 5,750 home new Garden Suburb for Ashford in Kent; 500 homes at Kennett Garden Village in Cambridgeshire; and a new Garden Village at Fairoaks Airport in Surrey.

In addition to Emma’s UK experience, she has also worked internationally in China including Suzhou, Liubu, Xinnyang and Dong Taihu, as well as developed a Public Space Strategy around Tampere’s train station in Finland.

Emma’s creativity extends out further to photography with one of her photos exhibited on ‘Flickr’s Explore most interesting things’. An avid traveller, she like to explore new places and cultures whenever she can, and as a self-proclaimed foodie she spends most of her spare time out in London wining and dining at the city’s latest restaurants.
