Duncan Thomas

BA (Hons) DipArch RIBA

Duncan is an architect with experience of projects varying in size and sector from large-scale region-wide masterplanning to small scale housing design.

Duncan is currently working on proposals for a large waterfront development at Medina Yard on the Isle of Wight. Extensive community engagement has brought forward a design which carefully responds to its historic context within Cowes. A grade II* listed hammerhead crane, a new maritime museum, 10,000 sq m of marine industrial premises and over 300m of publicly accessible riverside promenade have been incorporated into a new neighbourhood which responds and improves the setting for its neighbours. Medina Yard will enhance the town centre of Cowes with new retail, leisure and business facilities set around vibrant public spaces.

Other projects include The Oaks, a prestigious countryside development near Prague; and the placemaking strategy for Battersea Power Station. Both projects have required an approach which welcomes collaboration and team working with other architectural practices, consultants and most importantly the local community.

Outside of work Duncan enjoys travelling and has explored extensively around North America, Europe, South East Asia and Australasia.
