North Littlehampton Planning Application Exhibition: updated 15/03/2011

A planning application for North Littlehampton has now been submitted to Arun District Council and given a registration number of LU/47/11.  A separate application has been submitted for the Fitzalan Link Road and given a registration number LU/63/11.  The documents are available on the Council's website that can accessed here

As a part of the community engagement process, we held a public exhibition of the submitted proposals which formed part of the planning application on Thursday 10 March at All Saints Church in Littlehampton.

The exhibition was opened to everybody and provided an opportunity to view the proposals and leave comments.  Members of the design team were on hand to talk through the proposals.

You can view the exhibition in the PDF's located on the right-hand side.

A Vision for North Littlehampton: updated 08/01/2010

John Thompson & Partners were commissioned in spring 2008 by the Greencore Group to conduct participative planning process in North Littlehampton.

A Community Planning Weekend (CPW) was held on 18 and 19 July 2008 with the aim of creating a sustainable new Vision for North Littlehampton and particularly the land to the north of the railway station owned by Greencore.

Following the CPW, the Community Forum has continued to meet whilst ideas for the area are being developed.  Regular newsletters are produced with updates on the progress of the project.  You can download copies of newsletters and documents from the documentation section to the right.

Work is continuing on the proposals with a view to submitting an outline planning application. Following submission the community will be invited to an exhibition to view the finalised proposals.

Background

Greencore Group plc is leading a consortium of landowners who are promoting a large area of land at North Littlehampton to Arun District Council as a potential location for a Strategic Development Area (SDA), to be allocated in the Council's emerging Local Development

Framework (LDF). The land lies to the north of the railway line at Toddington, mainly to the north of Toddington Lane. The majority of the land is already developed with extensive glasshouses, warehousing, offices, hardstandings and a number of dwellings.

The land was previously promoted for development through the last Local Plan process. At that time, the Local Plan Inspector placed a higher priority on allocating land at Bersted and Felpham, both on the edge of Bognor Regis, for development because those developments would fund the construction of the A259 Bognor relief road. However, the Inspector commented that the land at North Littlehampton should be considered for development again when the need to allocate land for development arose.
