Bemerton Estate Public Exhibition of Regeneration Plans: updated 10 February 2011
Following the exhibition in October 2010, Islington Council considered residents’ feedback and altered the proposals to include some of the suggestions. We developed three options for the residents to consider that are illustrated in the Newsletter 3 available in the PDF located in the right-hand side. The Options were also shown at public exhibition on 19 January at Jean Stokes Hall and 24 January at Cally Resource Centre.
We asked residents to let us know what they think about the Options by coming along to the exhibitions and filling out a questionnaire. The team members from JTP and resident representatives were on hand to answer questions. We also conducted an extensive door-to-door survey on the whole estate to get views from those who could not attend the public exhibitions. In addition, two question and answer sessions were held providing specific information for tenants and leaseholders.
We are now analysing the questionnaires received during the exhibitions and door-to-door survey. A Newsletter with the results and information about further events will be circulated to the residents in late February.
Bemerton Estate Public Exhibition of Regeneration Plans: 28 October 2010
The team has been considering the views of the residents and has developed options for the future that were presented back to the community on Thursday 28 October at the marquee on Perth Green, Stranraer Way, Bemerton Estate. This drop-in event was open to everybody and provided an opportunity to meet the team and find out more about the ideas for the future and how the regeneration proposals could affect the community. You can view the details of the event and the exhibition in the PDF's located on the right-hand side.
Consultation Process: June - October 2010
A number of community consultation events have been organised to take place this year for local people to get involved in planning a new future for Bemerton. Since June 2010 we have met as many people as possible from Bemerton to get their views about where they live. We have been knocking on doors to ask what residents don't like about their homes and estate and what improvements they would like to see in the future. We have also held three Neighbourhood Meetings to give community an opportunity to work with the team and come up with ideas for the future of Bemerton. You can view the details of the events in the PDF located in the right-hand side.
Bemerton Festival: Saturday 3 July 2010
As part of the Bemerton Estate Festival, we hosted a stall in Stranraer Way where residents took part in creative and interactive activities to help us find out more about what life is like on Bemerton and what their ideas are for the future of where they live.
Background
John Thompson & Partners (JTP) have been chosen by the London Borough of Islington and Homes for Islington to work with residents to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for Bemerton. In 2008 JTP worked with local residents on the Bemerton Links and Spaces project (BLiS) which concentrated on the external spaces and routes through and around the estate. This time, we can consider a whole range of options, from small changes to the appearance of blocks, through to major change involving demolition and the building of new homes.
